Hi everyone! I’m Karen Emilson, the new Programming Coordinator with the Writers’ Collective of Manitoba
As many of you already know, our former Coordinator, Michael Van Rooy, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2011. Michael’s death left a huge hole in the writing community and here at the Writers’ Collective. We are just now beginning to pick up the pieces and appreciate your patience during this difficult time. The Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for member and partner relations and organizing and administering Collective programs and events. Applicants must be dedicated, reliable, community minded, able to work independently and with different groups of people.  Experience in preparing grant applications is an asset, as is experience with the local writing and publishing community.  Should have multi-tasking skills, excellent communication (both written and verbal) and networking skills. Must have facility with various computer programs including …

Some of you may not have heard our sad news: our city house was badly damaged in a fire on Monday, April 4.
It started from the untended fireplace, and yes, just one careless act can become bigger than you THAT FAST.
Our hearts are broken over the loss of our dear pets, overcome quickly by the smoke; Sophie, the celebrity sled-dog and her little buddy, Monty the wind-up dog. We miss them desperately.
Alana, her dog Bunny
