WC program coordinator Anita Daher is thrilled to announce the launch of her new children’s picture book, Itty Bitty Bits, illustrated by Wendy Bailey. The launch will take place at McNally Robinson Booksellers on Monday, October 21st at 7 p.m., and will feature a musical performance from family entertainer Francis Leonard of the Secondhandpants. The Winnipeg Free Press and the Writers’ Collective of Manitoba are pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Short Fiction Contests. This year’s series of contests included: the Short Fiction Contest—adult, senior student and junior student categories; the Marie Barton Postcard Story Contest, and; (new this year) the Eileen D. One of the most important tasks of our Annual General Meeting on May 4 is to elect the Board of The Writers’ Collective. The Board guides the work and development of The Writers’ Collective, including making decisions about programming and finances. This year, five individuals have been nominated to the Board. We have three continuing Board members and two new members to add to our team!

We are seeking an e-news publisher to compile and distribute our weekly e-news update. The update includes information about The Writers’ Collective programs and events, member news, and other literary events and writing opportunities in Winnipeg, Manitoba and beyond, with a sprinkling of writing facts and follies from around the web.
