The Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize: Prize: $2,500 awarded to finalist for book published between June 5, 2013 and September 30, 2013; $25,000 awarded to the overall winner of a novel or short-story collection published between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013.
The Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction: Prize: $5,000 awarded to finalist for book published between June 5, 2013 and September 30, 2013; $60,000 awarded to the overall winner of a literary nonfiction book published between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013.

The Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing: Prize: $2,500 awarded to finalist for book published between May 1, 2013 and September 3, 2013; $2,500 awarded to finalist for book published between September 4, 2013 and December 31, 2013; $25,000 awarded to the overall winner of a nonfiction book that captures a political subject of relevance to Canadian readers and enhances understanding of the issue.
The Walrus Poetry Prize: $25 for each entry (includes a complimentary one-year, ten-issue subscription to The Walrus magazine, starting with the October 2013 issue). Two prizes of $2,500 each, one to be selected by contest judges and one Readers’ Choice Award.
Women Who Write 2013 International Poetry & Short Prose Contest: Prose pieces can be fiction or non-fiction and are limited to 3,000 words or less. Entry fee includes one story or two poems. First place: $300, publication in Calliope (the annual anthology of Women Who Write) and up to five copies of Calliope. Second place: $200, publication in Calliope and up to five copies of Calliope. Third place: $100, publication and up to five copies of Calliope. Entry fee: $12
Room Magazine: Calling all women writers: Sharpen your pencils or fire up your laptop and send us your fiction, poetry, or creative non-fiction contest entries. Prizes: 1st prize in each category – $500, 2nd prize – $250. Winners will be published in a 2014 issue of Room. Honourable mentions will be featured on Room’s website.
