Update from The Writers’ Collective
On Friday, we packed up our files at the University of Winnipeg – we have officially moved out of that office space.
Right now, we don’t have a new office to move in to, but we are actively searching. The best way to get in touch with the Collective during this interim period is by email. Our temporary contact information for phone and mailing address belongs to Hilary Friesen, our president. Find all our contact information.
We also said good-bye to Thembani Mdluli, our Programming Coordinator since February. We are in the process of arranging a replacement for her who will help us move forward with our plan for a better Collective – all centred around Collective Consciousness, our journal.
September, which in the past has been the start of our programming year, is just a week away. For now, we are focusing on just a few programs to ensure we have the time and energy to make the new Collective Consciousness a success. Speaking Crow is continuing, as are the writing contests. All other programs are on hiatus.
In June we successfully amended our constitution to allow us to move forward with our plans for Collective Consciousness. We’ll keep you updated on our progress in the coming months – the new magazine will launch in 2013.
A few Board members will be at the next Speaking Crow (September 4, details below), so stop by and share your thoughts on the changes at the Collective! You can also comment on this post or send us an email. We love to hear feedback from our members and supporters.

More changes for the Collective – how hard for all of you. Keep your chins up – I think you’re doing a grand job under trying circumstances. I’m really looking forward to the launch of the new journal in 2013. We’re about to head off on our annual fall camping trip, so I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to Speaking Crow. I’ve only read at one Speaking Crow open mic, and it’s my goal to try to read publicly more often this year. I wish Kristian and Katherena much success with their new books…
Thanks for the encouragement Debbie. I hope you will make it out to Speaking Crow sometime this fall!
